Amy is on a quick visit with family in Minnesota, so my first day and a half at Madshus are on my own. Fortunately, these guys feed me and let me pick skis even when Amy isn’t here, and work is underway. I’m sorting through the material we selected in March, putting names on cold skis that have been ordered, and reviewing new warm ski production that has come in the past two months.
Madshus is not a static company. In the past several years they’ve been extremely dynamic working with the geometry of their ski design, and the results have been tremendous. Now they’re working with variations in reinforcing laminations and cambers, and producing some really interesting and innovative skis. We spend the spring testing some of these new materials, and will have a chance later this week to get back on snow in Sjusjoen where it’s still freezing at night, producing excellent ski conditions in the mornings.
For what it’s worth, this is a great time to touch base with us if you’re interested in having some new skis selected. We’re working with the race inventory here all week, at the same time that the Madshus race guys are selecting skis for team skiers. Best bet is to send me an email at:
